The Freezer Hack For Easy Wax Melt Cleaning

Cleaning old wax out of a burner can be a mess and a frustration when you’ve had a busy day, the less friction between you and enjoying your scents… the better! If you want a quick and clean way to do it and can’t use the wax melt cotton ball hack, try the freezer hack. It is a simple trick that many home fragrance lovers find so effective.

How to Do the Freezer Hack

Let it cool – Wait for your wax to get hard and cool down completely.

Lift out the removable burner dish – This hack is best if your burner has a dish that lifts off. Take only the dish to the freezer.

Freeze it – Put the dish into the freezer for 15 to 30 minutes.

Pop it out – The cold makes the wax shrink. Gently push the edge of the wax, and it should pop out in one solid piece.

Clean up – Wipe the dish with a soft cloth to remove any residue/wax flakes.

Stay Safe & Protect Your Burner

It is important to only freeze the removable dish. Putting a whole burner in the freezer can damage it. The extreme cold can cause tiny hairline cracks in the ceramic. These cracks could make the burner unsafe to use next time you light a tealight candle.

    Important Tips –

Warmth Check – Never put a hot burner into the freezer. The quick change in heat can break the material whether glass or ceramic.

Inspect – Always check your burner for cracks before you use it again.

    Other Quick Methods

If you do not have a removable dish or want to try some more hacks, we LOVE the cotton ball wax removal hack. If you don’t have any cotton balls to hand you can also light your burner for 30 seconds which lets it melt just the bottom layer so the wax disc slides out. You can also try our using wax melt liners (silicone cupcake cases) to make life easier too and avoid these hacks.

Alternatively if you hate cleaning wax, try our highly scented sizzlers (simmering granules). These are fragranced salt crystals that do not melt. When the scent is gone, you just tip the dry salt into the bin.
