Quick start
- Put your electric burner on a flat, heat proof surface away from windows and drafts
- Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of sizzlers to a clean dry dish
- Switch on the burner and enjoy the scent as it warms
- Switch off, let cool, tip used granules into the bin, wipe the dish.
What you need
- Electric wax burner or warmer
- Sizzlers
- Teaspoon (or pour from packet which is faster)
- Heat proof surface
- Small cloth or paper towel for wipe down
Step by step
- Set up your burner
Place it on a stable, heat proof surface away from curtains, soft furnishings, and out of reach of children and pets. Avoid window sills and doorways. Drafts carry the fragrance straight out of the room. - Start with a clean dish
The dish is best when dry and free from old wax or oil residue. Sizzlers do not need a liner. - Measure your sizzlers
- Small dishes up to 8 cm across: 1 teaspoon
- Standard dishes 8 to 10 cm: 1 tablespoon
- Large plate style dishes: up to 2 tablespoons in a thin, even layer
Do not heap the dish. A thin layer gives the best scent throw.
- Switch on and warm
Power up the burner. Most electric warmers are 20 to 40 watts. Expect the scent to bloom within 5 to 15 minutes as the granules warm. - Enjoy and adjust
Typical scent time per scoop is 2 to 4 hours depending on burner, room size, and scent strength. For open plan rooms, use a touch more or run for longer with doors closed. - Top up to refresh
When the fragrance softens, sprinkle in a fresh teaspoon. With sizzlers you can renew the scent in seconds. No scraping. No mess. - Switch off safely
Turn the burner off when you are done. Let the dish cool completely before handling. - Clean up
Tip cooled, used granules into the bin. Wipe the dish with a dry cloth. If there is residue, use warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Do not pour granules down the sink. - Store your sizzlers
Keep pouches sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight to lock in the scent. - Simple safety
Do not leave a burner unattended. Do not add extra oils. Water is not required.
Placement tips for the best scent
- Mid room on a stable surface is ideal
- Keep away from open windows, vents, and strong drafts
- Close doors to keep fragrance in the space you want to scent
Common mistakes to avoid
- Overfilling the dish
- Using next to an open window
- Mixing with leftover wax in the dish
- Moving the burner while hot
Troubleshooting
- Weak scent
Add a little more, close doors, and move the burner away from drafts. Check the bulb or hot plate is working. - Granules browning quickly
Use a smaller amount and top up more often. Very hot warmers can overcook fragrance. Consider a lower wattage warmer. - No scent after 15 minutes
Check the burner is on and the dish is uncovered. Replace a blown bulb.
FAQs
Can I use sizzlers in a tea light burner
Yes. Follow the same amounts and always use an unscented, quality tea light. Never leave it unattended.
Do I add water
No. Sizzlers are designed to be used dry.
How long do they last
A teaspoon usually scents for 2 to 4 hours. Top up to refresh or replace when the granules are spent.
Can I mix scents
Yes but be sure to check the allergens on the packs. Try half and half to create your own blends.
Are sizzlers pet friendly
Use in a ventilated room and keep all products out of reach. If your pet shows any signs of sensitivity, stop use and air the room. We don’t recommend using around birds and small animals such as hamsters.
How often should I clean the dish
After each full session or when changing scents. A quick wipe is usually enough since there is no melted wax.
Smelty Tips
- For a living room, start with 1 tablespoon and doors closed for the first 20 minutes to build up scent
- For quick freshen ups, run 30 to 60 minutes with a single teaspoon
- Sizzlers are the tidy wax alternative. When the scent fades, just top up or tip out and refill. No scraping. No residue
